Other significant Ethiopian festivals include:
Enkutatash (11th September). which means “Gift of Jewels” is the celebration of the Ethiopian New Year. It takes place on 11 September.
Timket (19th January). The finding of the True Cross. In Addis Ababa or Gondar and elsewhere.
Gishen Mariam Festival. (1 October). Takes place on a cross shaped mountain at Gishen Mariam monastery near Dessie in Central Wolo.
Ethiopian Christmas or Gena (7 January).
Kulbi Festival (Twice a year -26 July and 26 December). This Orthodox festival can be combined with a tour to Harar.
